x axis screw issue

when i get the boxzy to move the x axis, something seems to be stuck and it is not moving the way it is when moving more than 10-50 steps.

i replaced the stepper motor. i undo the belt from the motor and test and check that the motor is in working order without the belt.

is there any way to take the screw rod of the x axis out for a good clean?

one of the side on the gantry came off and i like to clean it and put it back. i unscrew it and found out that the gantry side has some loose balls inside

Hi Scott,

When you say you replaced the stepper motor, did you replace it with a motor purchased from BoXZY? You cannot replace the motor with any other brand of motor, or your machine will not work properly.

The ballscrew can be cleaned and rebuilt, but BoXZY does not provide instructions on how to do this, as it is a difficult process to do correctly, and they use specialized tools. You should send the machine into BoXZY if the ballscrews need to be taken apart.

If one of your linear bearings lost balls, you should replace it. They are simple and cheap to replace. BoXZY sells the bearings on their website.

Please note that after the gantry is removed, the machine must be reassembled in a specific order, or you can create a situation where the machine will lockup under movement. Please refer here:
