What current settings do the X/Y/Z & extruder motors take?

Hello, I am replacing the motor drivers used in the BOXZY with DRV8255 motor driver. I would like to know what current the X/Y/Z motors require as a maximum current limit, and what current the extruder takes as a maximum current.

Please make this information available because

A) Since the BOXZY came out in 2016, the replacement A4988 motor drivers have changed their design, so the formula used to adjust voltage to set maximum current has changed.

B) If we want to use a different motor driver such as a DRV8825, we have to calculate the new voltage based on the settings of a DRV8825.

If I know the limiting currents of these four (4) motors, I can adjust the potentiometers on my different boards accordingly.

Thank you

On my original kickstarter machine, the X / Y / Z are all 1.7A and the extruder is 1.4A at 19v.

I see that you’ve aleady found the BOXZY guide for replacing a stepper. Replacing a Stepper Motor Driver I guess they’re now recommending running the X and Y at 1.6A

Make sure you have the driver boards powered at 5v while you’re adjusting the pots and reading the result.

IMPORTANT: unless you’ve cut the tracks on the ultimaker board, the jumpers don’t set the microstepping values, so you’ll either need to clip the appropriate legs on the 8255’s or cut the tracks to activate the jumpers. The pins are different than the A4988 ones.
