What is the Laser Engraver lifespan?

I used my laser for at most 20 hours and it's failing on me.

I used it to etch some text on wood with a max power setting of 40%.

The first few went great, now only part of the text is readable.

What is wrong?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

It's hard to tell from the photo. If you send it in, they will rebuild it, no charge. Lifespan on the laser should be around 5k hours., let them know you're sending it in to be rebuilt at my request, if you'd like to do that.

I'm not living in the USA, sending it to USA will cost €25 that is a lot more than shipping a new laser would be. If they can ship the parts i need to replace I can install them myself in the aluminum holder. (does not look like more than a few screws) Maybe I can even open it myself to see if I can find the problem, unless that voids my waranty.

I will ask them to send some replacement parts for you. The issue is likely a wiring and cooling problem on the voltage regulator that was common on Kickstarter machines, so I will see if they can send you the entire circuit board pre-wired. Just as a note, make sure you never plug the laser in partially assembled or you can blow the main board. This happens when bracket or pcb board touches the metal canister and power is provided to the harness.

Sounds great. I asked them if they could send the module along to you, you should have the parts within 2 weeks.

Happy to help

Ok, I received the part this morning. Unfortunately there were no instructions but everything seemed very straight forward.

I unscrewed the top lid of the laser module and took the top part out (after disconnecting the one connector for the laser). Then I put the replacement part in (and connected the laser at the same location) and screwed everything back together.

I inserted the module in my BoXZY, connected everything and turned it on. The software recognised the laser module. I put my glasses on and pressed ON in the laser control panel. I expected to see a small dot on the cardboard I inserted, but didn’t see anything. That used to work with the old module.

What did I do wrong?
