How to Place Material for Laser Etching

I am trying to get my head wrapped around how the placement of my material in the Boxzy relates to the interface. Don't get me wrong I get at the macro level how to do it. But trying to refine so the image appears where I want it on the material. Is there a way to have centerlines on the interface as a reference point? Thoughts or ideas appreciated.

Thank you, yes I did read those steps, but guess need to look at them again. I was thinking of engraving a grid to help also!

Step 8 and 9 in this guide deals with that specifically:

2.2 Laser Etching with BoXZY

Were you able to complete those steps? The image provided is meant to be an analog for any image you use.

I manually engraved a grid in my tape (that is over my print platform) so that I can more quickly square corners, then just center my image and my material. You can engrave lines by using gcode. Add an L0 through L100 to any typed gcode line to control laser power. Example: G1 X165 L100 F1500

That will move the machine from whatever X position it is in currently to X 165mm while running the laser at 100% power and a speed of 1500mm/minute (25mm/sec).

I adjusted some of the language in step 8 and 9. Let me know if it's still not clear enough
