Limit Switch cable pins are not sitting down all the way?

Hi, I am just now unboxing my machine and while attempting to plug in the LIMIT SWITCH cable following the wiki I found that the cable's latching clip had a hardened glob of plastic gel (hot glue?) which didn’t allow the clip to hinge back so as to clamp onto the receiving port. I removed it (since I don’t see it in image #2 of the instruction set) however the pins don’t seen to fully lock in. The male pins seem cleared of debris but they aren’t sitting down, and I'm not able to connect the cable… I am pushing fairly hard but I don't want to force anything. What would you suggest? And what was with the glob? It seemed both highly deliberate and in-the-way… Is it on all boxzy's?

Thanks,

Luca

The hot glue is present on all units and is unfortunate. I've had to deal with removing it from the circuit board to replace parts and it wreaks havoc (please stop hot gluing things team boxzy). I'd check the connector for more glue, but I do recall mine was a snug fit as well.

It seems they use hot glue to "lock" the connectors in their slots on the back circuit board which is great and fine by me so one guess is they confused their work flow on this model and hotglued not only the back connector but also the other end that connects to the actual limit switches... However it is a mystery since when I push the "Quick Change Head" male pins into the port it goes in smoothly. I try the QCH pins on the 3D head port and works fine, but the weird thing is the Limit Switch male pins also work fine in the quick change port. Something about the combo between the "Limit Switch" pins and port is just not working... Pins themselves look fine when I inspect with a bright headlamp. Maybe I'm missing a key variable.

The harness to the limit switches have a blob of glue simply so once installed, it cannot be inadvertently removed. Some early users were removing it and forgetting about it. It should click into place, regardless of the glue.

Some combinations of harness and plug have a hard time clicking together. Usually if this happens you can move it back and forth as you plug it in and get it to seat, if not, BoXZY will send you another harness.

The harnesses are also identical, so you can switch the two if you'd like.

That's interesting, it doesn't matter which harness you put in each slot?

Nope, they are the same harness. The only thing that is different with the new version is the ferrite are on the quick change harness. They can simply be unclicked and swapped as well.

Thanks to the both of you. I'll just swap the cables (and read up on ferrite clamps in the meantime)
