Introduction

Once you have you BoXZY carve and mastered the art of milling, and want to move on to laser engraving or 3D printing. This guide will show you the steps on how to set-up your laser for engraving, and install your filament drive for 3D printing

  1. Uncap the quick change head cap located underneath the limit switch cap. Insert quick change head harness into the quick change cap.
    • Uncap the quick change head cap located underneath the limit switch cap.

    • Insert quick change head harness into the quick change cap.

    • Insert opposite end of quick change harness into the cap on top of the laser engraver.

    • Place engraver into the open gantry and close the lever to lock into place

    • Wiggle the quick change head harness in to the caps.

  2. Place your filament drive in the location of the red circles as seen as in picture 1 Carefully remove the electronics fan cover by using a 2.5mm hex key to loosen the mounting bolts. Be aware that there is a lot of wiring within this case so be gentle when moving it to the side. Plug in your filament drive motor from the electronics box seen in picture 2

    • Plug in your filament drive motor from the electronics box seen in picture 2

    • The other end of the wire goes into the electronics board in the correct spot with the grey wire on top as seen in picture 3

  3. Install filament motor stepper driver on the electronics board in this location and in this position shown in the picture. Make sure it is in the opposite orientation, or upside-down, in relationship to the adjacent 3 motor drivers.

    • Refer to Replacing a Stepper driver Steps 4 -7, in the How to Guides to for more in depth information about the motor driver.

  4. Replace fan cover over mounting bolts. While doing this be sure to guide the wiring to the sides of the electronics board. It is important that the wiring does not restrict air flow to the motor drivers. As you remount the fan cover, the newly installed filament drive wiring harness should be guided into the small opening provided in the fan cover's top, red acrylic.
