[title] Setting Up BoXZY to Test the Laser: Part 1
[* black] First, remove any Attachment Head from the Attachment Mount.
[* black] Verify that your Leveling Platform is leveled and sitting on your Milling Platform. If you have not leveled your Leveling Platform by following our 3D Printing Guide go to [guide|115|this link|stepid=538] and read steps 2 and 3 to adjust your Leveling Platform.
[* yellow] In the Manual Control tabTab, send your X, Y and Z axes to their home. You can do this by clicking the lower left '''home''' button (circled in yellow in image 1) or by typing '''G28''' into your G-code input line (shown with a yellow arrow) and clicking '''Send.'''

[* red] Insert your '''Laser Head''' into your Attachment Mount so that the Head's metal ring sits flush on top of the Attachment Mount (as shown by the red arrow in image 2). Lock your Attachment Mount and connect the cable to your Laser Head. You should see "BoXZY Laser Head detected" in the log display, as shown in the red box in image 1.
[* black] Take a piece of cardboard that's about the size of your Leveling Platform and center it on the platform, as shown in image 3.
[* icon_note] Measure the thickness of the cardboard with either a metric ruler or caliper. You will need to add this measurement to the Laser Head's focal distance, which is 50.7mm.
[* black] In your G-code input line, type '''G1 Z#''' and then click '''Send''', where # is 50.7 + the cardboard thickness in millimeters.
[* icon_note] The focal distance of the Laser Head is 50.7mm away from the Laser Head. You will not have to manually set this value in the future.
