Screw cold end to the hot end until the Teflon tape is no longer visible. Note that the cold end should not be touching the flanged edge of the hot end. For now keep a couple millimeter of space between the two.
Insert the white extruder insert (aka nozzle holder) into the cold end making sure that the funneled end is facing away from the hot end. See 2nd picture.
Push the extruder insert down into the cold end until it touches the edge of the hot end. Use your calipers to measure the depth of the insert. You want to measure from the top of the white extruder insert to the top edge of the cold end. Continue screwing the hot end in until the insert measures 4.43 mm from the top of the cold end.
By tightening the hot end you will in turn be raising the extruder insert.
