With the pre-heat temperature set at 200C, I used a Flir camera to see what the temperature was at the extruder head. It only read around 150C and this is too low to melt the filament during the initial pre-heat phase and may be a cause of the filament not being fed from the reel. I increased the temp to 220C and the camera showed a temp of 194C which is enough to melt the filament that was left over from previous print.
